I hear these words, ringing, ringing in my ears as I have heard them so many times before...

Father, I ask you to bless my sister reading this right now. Lord, show her a new revelation of Your love and Your power. Minister to her spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give her Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubting, release a renewed confidence in Your ability to work through her. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, give her understanding, patience, and strength as she learns submission to Your leading. Where there is spiritual stagnation, renew her by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing her into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to her Your courage. Where there is a sin blocking her, reveal it, and break its hold over my sister’s life. Give her vision, and raise her up a leader and a friend to support and encourage her. Give her discernment to recognize the demonic forces around her, and reveal to her the power she has in You to defeat it. Where there is passiveness, show her, undeniably, that HOLINESS is what you want for each and every one of us, including her. I ask You to do these things in Jesus’ name and I call it done. So be it!

HOLINESS, HOLINESS, is what I long for. What a beautiful hymn and as I listen to it, and as I sing it, and as the words become part of me, I know that God is holy - therefore, regardless of the mountain top times or of the valley times, I must be holy. There will always be mountain top times but there will always be valley times also; dark times; midnight times. Remembering your blessings will lead you to encourage yourself by remembering God’s help in the past. But not only remember, but rehearse the blessings of your past.

(Psalm 77)

I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Will the Lord cast off forever? and will he be favourable no more? Is his mercy clean gone forever? doth his promise fail for evermore? Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

So we see David in deep distress and complaining to God, but his complaints of deep distress and temptations always gave way to prayer. So now the Word continues through David but he continues on a different level!

I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

But when we think of the goodness of Jesus, when we remember the years when God has done great and glorious works, then we give Him His worthy worship – because we know Him. From the beginning of time, God was glorious in HOLINESS. The Word of God (Exodus 15:11) tells us about His awesomeness in splendor and about Him doing wonders but the recordings of God’s HOLINESS does not stop there.

All throughout His Word, HOLINESS is a theme:

(Psalm 93:5)

HOLINESS becometh the house of the Lord.

(Psalm 29:2 & I Chr. 16:29)

There is beauty in HOLINESS

(Isaiah 35:8)

A highway, not just anyway, but a HIGH way (of HOLINESS)

(Jer. 2:3)

If we are holy, God will protect

(Romans 6:22)

The fruit of HOLINESS

(II Cor. 7:1)

Let us perfect HOLINESS

(Eph. 4:24)

The new man with true HOLINESS

(I Thes. 3:13)

We are unblameable in HOLINESS

(Heb. 12:10)

And we are partakers of His HOLINESS

God wants true, holy saints. We know this because God’s Word tells us that He is holy! He is a holy God and He requires a holy people. God’s Word instructs and God’s Word cleans. We are called to HOLINESS because His desire and His will is for a sanctified people, a set-aside people, a set-apart people and we are blessed through obedience. God is God all by Himself and He doesn’t owe us anything - not even an explanation, because the answer is always in His Word. He says, I AM that I AM, so because He is...THAT’S why and that’s all the explanation we need from God.

HOLINESS is a call, and what the call says is -

  • HUMILITY/MODESTY - in our actions, in our clothing, in our ways. Now, that doesn’t mean not to fix up, not to beautify yourself but the Word says that the beauty of salvation must shine (from the inside out).

  • SALVATION - we must be saved. Born again, in Him; baby saint in Him; drinking the milk of the Word in Him; then eating the meat of the Word in Him - maturing in Him.

  • PRAISE/WORSHIP - always thanking Him for what He is and for what He has done before asking Him for even one thing.

  • ASSEMBLING - with the saints of the most high God, consistently and obediently

  • PRAYER - without ceasing and in the spirit

  • FASTING - turning over the plate and pushing away the cup. This generation has identified so many different types of fasts but the old pathway of fasting was no food (no vegetables, no fish, no fruit, etc.) and no liquids, not even water. The only exception was on a very extended fast. Our mothers and fathers in the gospel sacrificed and were blessed for the sacrifice! The old path way saints received results.

  • CONSECRATED LIFE - in all manner of conversation: walk, talk, attitude, actions, thoughts, acquaintances

  • SANCTIFICATION - clean up your act! Search me, oh God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way n my and lead me in the way everlasting. HOLINESS requires a Psalms prayer of TAKE IT OUT OF ME!

See you next Sunday morning, if the Lord says the same and delays His coming.
